Multicultural Feast 2010 [Fri. January 29]

Origins of the Feast

"The Multicultural Feast celebrates the diversity so proudly represented in the families here at PVP. We celebrate this night as a group of families and friends who come together to represent diversity and inclusion. Families attending bring a dish that is representative in some way of their culture or family, to share with everyone. The evening also represents the culmination of themes and activities that have taken place in our classrooms over the past weeks and months, celebrating our likenesses and differences, culturally, spiritually, physically and giving THANKS for it all."

Anoke is 19 Months! [January 2, 2010]

Anoke is less a toddler and more a little boy each day. He is growing in so many ways: he's taller, thinner, his hair is darker hair....he understands more, says more, learns quicker... he's funny and clever and knows how to manipulate situations...

He knows so much that it's difficult to say what he does know. Before, I could write a list of the vocabulary words he knew, but know it's a growing list that I'm having trouble keeping up with...each day a new word. But it's not only vocabulary (animals, vehicles, etc.)(English and Spanish) that he's learning, but also concepts, like letters having their own individual sounds, acting & imagining, up & down, open & close, big & little, inside & outside... His motor skills are impressive, he can use a zipper and open latches, fasten velcro, turn knobs, insert small items into larger ones, open boxes and puzzles, etc. He can dance and spin and climb and is now begining to jump ("Five little monkeys jumping on the bed!...").

Anoke is an extremely outgoing, happy, social, physical, empathetic, funny, clever, and beautiful little boy. He says, "Hi!" to everyone he sees and if you're lucky enough to meet him, he may even give you a high-five, a hug, or a beso on the cheek.
